Laser Vision/Lasik Consultation and Evaluation
Laser vision correction, also known as Lasik, has changed the way many of our patients see from requiring glasses, to clear crisp vision with no correction necessary at all. We work closely with the finest Lasik center in our area. We provide Laser vision correction consultation, evaluation, pre-and post op care. We closely communicate with the Lasik center, providing them with all the necessary readings and measurements to achieve an excellent outcome. Many of our patients who have had Lasik vision correction through our office, comment that they wish they had done it years ago.
It is important to remember that as popular as Lasik has become it is still surgery, and surgery entails risks. Not everyone is a candidate for Lasik. During the evaluation we carefully collect the measurements and information necessary to determine whether or not you are a candidate for the procedure. Corneal curvature, thickness, refractive error, general health conditions are all evaluated in making the appropriate determination whether to go forward with the surgery or not. This is an objective process in order to arrive at the best decision for our patients. This objectivity may not be available to those who bypass their eye care provider and go directly to some laser vision centers who often have patient consultants working on commission.
It is also important to understand that Lasik does not change the need for reading glasses for up close vision if you are in your forties or beyond. If you need help reading before Lasik you will need help reading after the procedure. There are ways to modify the procedure to assist with near vision clarity if a patient wishes to do that. If you have Lasik done while in your twenties, you will still need help to see when you get into your forties.
If you have an interest in having Lasik performed or any questions about the procedure please call us at 260-432-1231.
